19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
