'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now numerous fans' top picks to win the Premier League during this term.

Look at their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are seeming ready to at last realize their title goal.

They stand first for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is well known, but rival sides still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their traditional rivals aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far yielded results in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three straight Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with belief and purpose.
