Cars in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident left him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
